Building Relationships As We Study The Word Of God
9:00 am classes
Journeying Together - Office Suite, Linda Reilly - Facilitator
Our class will be a continuation of last year's class which uses book studies to discover Jesus' working all around us in every aspect of our lives. The book we're using, Surrender to Love, states on the back cover: "Explore God's invitation to an authentic relationship with Him through the twin themes of love and surrender as the heart of Christian spirituality. God is love and He intends for us to live in His love. Surrendering to love leads to an unexpected place, where yielded-ness to God frees us to become who He created us to be."
Anyone is welcome to come join us in this great adventure!
The Salt Shakers - Room 207, Don & Dawn Mills
Join us as we explore authentic ways to continue developing a relationship with God that is real and personal. We will work and have fun at journeying together toward becoming new creations in Christ and being the salt of the earth to our families, fellow believers and the people in our circles of influence. This class is designed to meet the needs of people in their 40s and 50s - singles, couples, and/or parents with junior high/ high school age children. Even if this is not your life stage, forget the age and join us!
The Home Builders - Room 208, Pastor Alec & Tammy Millen and Ryan & Kate Aument
Are you in the process of building your home? Do you want to build it on a solid foundation? Join the Home Builders! This newly created ABF Class is for young parents with little children (mid-20s thru 30s - parents' ages of course!). Our hope is to provide fellowship and encouragement to one another as we journey through this adventure called Parenthood! Throughout the year, we will alternate between studying books of the Bible and focusing on topics that are especially relevant to our life stage. Our goal is to understand God's design for our lives and our families, and to then encourage one another to "do the hard work" of glorifying God in this generation. If you are a parent of young children, and want to grow with us in our walk with Christ and in our role as parents, we'd love to have you join us!
Young Adult Ministries (YAM) - Room 201, Phil & Freddy Weaver and Aaron & Deb Eshleman
The YAM ABF is for young adults after high school and in their 20s. The class meets year-round, and our desire is to see our generation go hard after Jesus. For the rest of 2011, we will be looking into Old Testament stories that we learned as kids. This time, we're going deeper to see how the faith demonstrated thousands of years ago can impact our lives today. Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever! Come and join us and get to know other people your age!
Men's Fraternity - Room 202, Randy Horning
Imagine the transforming power of men coming together within our church to honestly examine their lives and take the courageous steps necessary to embrace authentic manhood on a journey to become who God intends them to be. That is the goal of Men's Fraternity, and you will have a chance to participate in this journey during this Sunday morning class time. Join Randy Horning as he leads this 24-session class that consists of 45-minute teaching sessions by Robert Lewis on DVD followed by 30 minutes of small group interaction, all in an environment where men are free to talk openly and confidentially about what they heard and express mutual support for one another.
Sketch III - Room 203, Sam & Kate Mylin
This unique class is open to all ages...to anyone (including family units) who is interested in learning through Artistic Biblical Discipleship. It promises to "move the hands and feed the heart!" The purpose is to ignite creativity and develop relationships in the body of Grace Church at Willow Valley through a consistent and constructive, action-packed Adult Bible Fellowship. Don't worry if you feel unskilled in the arts. You will be trained to create, and in doing, will grow closer to your Creator!
Sacred Space - Room 204, Self Guided
The Sacred Space room will be open on Sunday mornings for quiet prayer and reflection. Our lives are filled with noise and lots of busyness; come spend an hour in silence with the Lord! Bibles and other resources for spiritual reflection are provided.
10:30 am classes
The "Young at Heart" Class - Room 207, Pastor Al Reilly
We are studying the Epistle of 1 John verse by verse and gleaning the relevant Biblical principles and applications for our lives. This class is open to everyone but there is a special focus on fellowship and building community among our Senior Adults.
The Lamplighters - Room 205, John Prichard
We are continuing the study, GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD. This course is a study in the life and lessons from the life of Joseph a major Old Testament patriarch, a fascinating character who has much to teach us. Joseph is one of few persons in the Bible of whom no evil is reported. This stellar character went from favorite son to being reported dead (and in reality exiled from his home and family) to become second to pharaoh in one of the world's greatest empires...and all this after spending years in prison. Joseph is an example for us all to follow. Join us for a pilgrimage through ancient Palestine and Egypt as we trace this man's riveting life story with vital lessons for us today. All adults are welcome!
